Case Study #2: Protecting your Academic IP • Peer Review

Individually review and complete a peer review of the artifacts from teams assigned to you (see below).

First, review artifacts posted by all teams. Locate items by clicking on the category Case study #2 artifacts in our Google+ community.

From the list of review assignments (see below), prepare a formal peer review for each team’s artifacts.

Each person is assigned to review the artifacts posted by two other teams.

When reviewing artifacts, follow guidelines and examples listed in the document, Comments & Peer Reviews:

http://go.hawaii.edu/hU

Make all reviews substantive and professional. It should be at least 4-5 paragraphs in length, clear and understandable. Prepare off-line and then COPY & PASTE the text of your review. Special formatting (headings, character formats, etc) is not needed. However, be sure to enter a BLANK LINE to separate paragraphs.

Post each review separately on our Google+ community as a COMMENT to the original post for the artifact. To quickly locate artifacts, click on the category Case study 2 artifacts. Due August 3.

This week

Group Discussion: Terms of Service (TOS) Agreements

How often do you read these agreements in detail? Why or why not? Have you encountered any difficulties because you did not read them?

During our class meeting, discuss the following:

  • Identify and verify 3 or more internet services whose TOS are “creepy” or “scary.” Explain.
  • How can you learn about a specific TOS without having to read ALL the detail?

As a group, prepare a summary of your discussion highlights and post it to our Google+ community in the category: TOS (group discussion). Be sure to list ALL members of your group to receive full credit. Due August 3.

Case Study #3: Cyberbullying and Trolling

As in the previous two case studies, collaborate as a team to prepare artifacts related to the Underdawgs case study on inappropriate behavior. Should you have questions about any specific requirements, contact the Underdawgs design team (Dave, Leilehua, & Vera).

Post links to your team’s artifacts on our Google+ community site in the category, Case study #3 artifacts. When posting, provide titles for your artifacts, your team name and team members. Artifacts due Aug 3; assigned peer reviews due Aug 10.
